The USDA awarded Common Ground, and our partner the CT Food Systems Alliance (CFSA), a Farm to School Grant to support our upcoming conference. We will be conducting the first CT statewide Farm to School conference on March 20th, “Classroom, Cafeteria, Community: Building a Culture of Collaboration” at Eastern CT State University.
All over the state of Connecticut efforts in local food procurement, food education, and the creation of school gardens are taking shape and gaining momentum. We will strengthen the quality and impact of these isolated endeavors by bringing together over 250 farm to school and school garden practitioners, leaders, educators, and volunteers to share best practices, build professional networks, discuss new approaches and resources, explore evaluation techniques, and celebrate innovation and outstanding achievement..
Many thanks to the USDA Farm to School Grant program, which support the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) efforts to connect school cafeterias with local farmers and ranchers!
