Join us for spring on the farm and in the forest! Did you know that Common Ground is open every Saturday from 10 AM – 2 PM for Open Farm Day? This is a free, self-guided time for visitors to enjoy our campus and some time in nature.
What can you do at Open Farm Day? Visit the chickens, watch the ducks, pet Stuart the goat, and look for frogs in the wetland. Our friendly farm animals are always happy to see Open Farm Day visitors. In season, you can also explore, taste, and smell in the children’s garden. Toddler and young child favorites also include our big sandbox and mud kitchen (you might want to bring a change of clothes – making mud pies is messy!). In the forest, you can take a self-guided hike, build a fort in our Outdoor Classroom playspace, or enjoy the trucks, blocks, and pulleys, and playhouses in Brick City.
Who comes to Open Farm Day? Everyone is welcome! Most of our visitors are families with young children. We also welcome volunteers ages 18 and up on the farm every Saturday from 10 AM – 1 PM.
What else should I know:
- We do not have food for sale, but you are welcome to bring snacks
- The farmhouse is open for bathrooms, including a child-friendly bathroom and baby changing station
- There is plenty of free parking, and the B bus also stops at our campus
- Our Open Farm Day staff team can help answer any questions about our campus, about all of our programs for children and the community, and questions about Common Ground High School
