This is a magical way to kick off the holiday break in the woods – join us to celebrate nature and community and a spirit of joyfulness.
The winter solstice marks the start of winter, and the longest night and shortest day of the year. Join us to celebrate the slow return of the sun!
Activity stations open from 2 – 4 include:
- Make a solstice lantern to take home
- Learn about the journey the Earth makes around the sun that makes the seasons change
- Enjoy a campfire, stories, songs, and a special hot cider solstice drink
At 4 PM we will gather at the campfire to add our wishes for the new year to a special handcrafted wish basket that we will burn in the fire and send our wishes up into the evening sky.
Please plan to arrive no later than 3:30 PM if you’d like to make your own lantern. Lantern making is indoors, and all other activities are outside.
Children must attend with and be supervised by an adult, and all ages are welcome.
Free, no RSVP required.
Any last-minute changes to this event based on WEATHER will be on Common Ground’s FACEBOOK page!
