Common Ground is proud to announce the appointment of Executive Director Genevive Goubourn-Walker, effective March 17, 2025. Genevive is a proud New Haven native who has dedicated her professional life to her passion for clarity, impactful change, and fostering positive outcomes. She graduated from Wilbur Cross High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Urban Studies from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later received her MA in Elementary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City. Genevive is a veteran 5th-grade teacher, having served in both the New Haven and Hamden public school districts. She subsequently transitioned from the classroom to the nonprofit arena, and spent a decade at the Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology. There, she held roles as Director of Programs, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, in her role as Director of Workforce Development at Social Impact Partners, her work prioritized the efforts of Regional Sector Partnerships and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Strategies, with an emphasis on creating pathways and career ladders for jobseekers across Connecticut.
Throughout her career, Genevive has served the community as a consultant, panelist, meeting facilitator, and sought-after board member. She continues to support various community efforts, facilitating important conversation and providing leadership development. Driven by a relentless pursuit of progress, her unwavering work ethic is grounded in the belief that today’s efforts will yield tomorrow’s rewards. Genevive is excited to bring her extensive experience in nonprofit and educational leadership to the New Haven Ecology Project and Common Ground High School. She looks forward to learning from the diverse and talented leaders, teachers, students, and community members who make up this remarkable organization.
