Alexa is happy to be part of such a wonderful, meaningful community at Common Ground since June 2015. She is passionate about bringing exposure and appreciation to the outdoors, and is always excited to show everyone all that Common Ground has to offer!

Alexa is an Environmental Educator in many different programs. She teaches in the field trip and home school program during the day, and is the Program Manager for Kids Unplugged in the afternoons, helping out in any other programs in-between. Alexa is also one of the Assistant Directors for Summer Camp, ready to problem solve at a moment’s notice. You will see Alexa at Common Ground special events, open farm days, and probably leading a birthday party or two as well!

Alexa holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, where she became involved with the environmental Ecohouse Learning Community, sparking her interest in all things outdoors. At UConn, she was a Program Director for a tutoring and mentoring group for middle school students through UConn Community Outreach as well. During her summers, she worked at Kieve-Wavus Camps in Jefferson, Maine, planning and leading two week outdoor wilderness trips for ages 8-13. Ever since, she has been hiking, camping, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, biking, crafting, woodworking, and learning whatever new skills she can!

After graduating, Alexa spent a few months travelling in Europe, after which she had the opportunity to work full-time at a travel company. She enjoyed learning about the travel business, but eventually she decided to pursue her passion in environmental education. Alexa hoped to combine her outdoor, teaching, and “desk job” skills, and found Common Ground – the perfect place.
