I write today to express my deep sorrow over the senseless murder of Javier Martinez. Javier was a senior at Common Ground High School in New Haven; he was a sweet, sensitive, articulate, intelligent young man with a bright future and a warm smile. I know I am not alone in saying my heart broke upon learning of his death this past Saturday. Common Ground is a very small, close-knit academic community, and this tragedy cuts at such a deep, personal level. I also know I am not alone in saying that the perpetrator of this heinous crime must be brought to justice and held accountable. Read the entire article at the New Haven Register.
